Claire Potter Design + CompARTment Pop Up Shop in UK

Instead of going on holiday this year, eco design practice Claire Potter Design has decamped from its usual base to create a temporary pop-up studio in the Open Market in central Brighton, UK. They’ll be offering free interior and landscape design advice to all visitors this week, so stop by if you’re in the area and need some tips on what to do with your decor or garden! The shop was constructed entirely from locally-sourced recycled and reclaimed materials — it features vintage gym equipment used as a seating bench and table, old enamel factory lights, and plywood boards rescued from a building site skip. Other reclaimed features include a 1950’s architect’s drawing table and a transparency viewing light board, both of which add to eclectic, industrial style of the space.

Installed in only one day, the week-long pop-up studio was created in association with compARTment, a Brighton based group of artists and makers reviving empty spaces in the city through exciting and interactive projects. As strong believers in closed loop design, Claire Potter Design has ensured that all items used within the space have already been assigned new homes in other projects when the studio is dismantled, so zero waste is created by the pop-up residency.
