Carpenters Workshop Gallery

(CWG).

Now the influential firm — one of the world’s first to focus on collectible design pieces — is adding a New York City outpost to its London and Parisian roster.

Opening this week in the top two floors at  693 Fifth Ave. — once the home of Takashimaya — the Manhattan space marks a major milestone for nine year-old CWG.

Like its European branches, CWG’s new Gotham gallery will draw from its highly curated collection of limited edition design pieces by global talents such as Rick Owens and Studio Job to Nacho Carbonell and Brazil’s sensational Campana Brothers.

CWG owners Julien Lombrail and Loic Le Gaillard have described this kind of work as “functional sculpture” and “furniture that is highly collectible.”

With bold-name fans such as Tom Ford, Brad Pitt and billionaire Roman Abramovich having purchases CWG pieces, Lombrail and Le Gaillard have clearly hit upon a winning formula.

Indeed, the pair say that a full 40 per cent of business comes from US clients. With CWG’s debut exhibit dedicated to the legendary Wendell Castle, there’s little double that number will certainly grow.
